Making Workplace Rights Easier to Understand

In a busy workplace, union stewards were constantly fielding questions about contracts, from vacation policies to overtime pay. The information was all there but buried in dense, hard-to-search documents. As a result, members waited days for answers, and stewards found themselves overwhelmed, repeating the same explanations again and again.
We introduced a simple tool that changed everything: a smart assistant that could answer plain-language questions using the union’s own collective agreement. Answers came with source links and confidence ratings, helping members get clarity fast and allowing stewards to focus on advocacy instead of admin.
Response times dropped from days to seconds. Burnout declined. And for the first time, workers could understand their rights without needing a law degree.
Takeaway: Empowering people with knowledge doesn’t always mean more meetings or more training. Sometimes, it’s as simple as making information easier to access, right when it’s needed.
