In a remote region where access to healthcare was limited, a grassroots organization was collecting valuable health data through mobile clinics. Every day, field teams worked tirelessly to serve new and expectant mothers, but behind the scenes, staff were overwhelmed by manual data reviews, follow-up messaging, and paperwork. Their leadership was also beginning to explore how AI might help them do more, but they lacked a clear path forward.
We partnered with the team to map out a future where technology could amplify their mission, without compromising their values. Together, we laid the foundation for responsible AI use, developed simple tools to assist staff in their daily work, and introduced new ways to engage with patients, such as automatically sending personalized health reminders.
The results were immediate and tangible: less time spent on repetitive tasks, more mothers following through on care, and a growing sense of confidence among staff. Today, over a hundred frontline workers are equipped with digital tools that support, not replace, their human touch.
Takeaway: Even in resource-limited settings, thoughtful use of AI can create real impact if it’s rooted in ethics, context, and the lived experiences of those on the ground.
